Climate Action Plan

Our Commitment

Woma Woma Ltd is committed to addressing climate change as a critical global challenge and to aligning our operations, strategy, and supply chain with a 1.5°C pathway. We recognise that climate change presents both risks and responsibilities, and we aim to play an active role in the transition toward a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy.

Woma Woma operates as a fully outsourced business with no physical premises and no direct employees. Our contractor-based model means our direct carbon footprint is inherently low. However, we recognise that our most significant climate impact lies within our supply chain — in the growing, processing, and transportation of coffee — and we take that responsibility seriously.

1. Emissions Measurement

We assess our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions annually across the three recognised scopes:

  • Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources. As Woma Woma has no premises, vehicles, or on-site operations, our Scope 1 emissions are negligible.
  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased energy. With no office or facilities, our Scope 2 emissions are minimal.
  • Scope 3: Value chain emissions, including supplier operations, product transportation, packaging, and contractor business travel. This is where our most significant impact sits and where we focus our efforts.

Our assessments are conducted in line with recognised methodologies including the GHG Protocol. We are committed to improving the quality and scope of our data over time, particularly across Scope 3, working closely with our roasting partner Masteroast and other suppliers to improve traceability and accuracy.

2. Targets and Strategic Alignment

Woma Woma is working toward setting science-based targets aligned with global climate objectives. Our targets will reflect short, medium, and long-term ambitions and will be reviewed annually.

Our immediate focus is on:

  • Reducing packaging waste and transitioning to recyclable and compostable materials across our SKU range
  • Prioritising suppliers with strong environmental credentials and transparent sourcing practices
  • Expanding our use of Fairtrade and Organic certified supply chains, which carry lower environmental impact
  • Exploring pathways toward net-zero, reducing emissions first and using carbon removal solutions only where necessary

3. Supply Chain and Scope 3 Reduction

As our primary climate impact sits within our supply chain, supplier engagement is central to our climate action. We:

  • Work with Masteroast to source green beans with full traceability and strong environmental and social standards
  • Source our Nourish blend through Café Fémenino / CECANOR in Peru, a Fairtrade Organic Women’s Grown programme with sustainable farming practices
  • Use the Mountain Water Process for our Mountain Rainwater Decaf — a chemical-free, low-impact decaffeination method
  • Encourage suppliers to reduce packaging materials and increase use of recycled content
  • Integrate environmental criteria into our procurement decisions

4. Operations and Travel

With no physical office and a fully remote working model, Woma Woma’s operational emissions are low by design. We:

  • Conduct the vast majority of business activity remotely, minimising travel-related emissions
  • Choose rail over car where business travel is required
  • Encourage contractors to apply the same principles in their own working practices

5. Climate Risk Management

Climate change presents real risks to our business — particularly in our supply chain. Coffee growing regions are among the most vulnerable to changing weather patterns, drought, and temperature shifts. We:

  • Monitor climate-related risks to our sourcing regions and supplier relationships
  • Diversify sourcing where possible to reduce dependency on single origins
  • Consider climate resilience in our long-term supplier and product strategy

6. Governance and Accountability

Climate responsibility sits with our Founder, Georgie Barulis, and is embedded in our business planning and decision-making. Progress against our climate commitments is reviewed annually alongside our broader B Corp certification work.

7. Transparency and Reporting

We are committed to being open about our climate journey — including where we are still developing our approach. This plan will be updated annually and shared publicly. We will report on:

  • Progress against emissions reduction targets
  • Supply chain sustainability improvements
  • Packaging and materials developments
  • Key initiatives and outcomes

8. Continuous Improvement

We recognise that climate action is an evolving field and that our approach will need to develop as we grow. We are committed to learning, reviewing our strategy regularly, and improving our impact year on year. We welcome input from suppliers, partners, and customers on how we can do better.

Through this Climate Action Plan, Woma Woma Ltd commits to a structured, honest, and accountable approach to addressing climate change — one that is grounded in the reality of how we operate and focused on where our impact genuinely lies.

Formalised and approved by the board of directors on 1st June 2026.
